As the Silent Word Ministries’ Home Office Missionary, my desire is two-fold: “Reach the Deaf” and “Refresh the missionaries.” Sometimes those goals are the same. By helping and refreshing our missionaries, I assist in their outreach to Deaf people. This spring, I was excited to help the Barrs (SWM missionaries) with Fantastic Saturday events in Trenton and Atlanta, Georgia. In April, I also assisted for the first time with Deaf Days at the Creation Museum and Ark Encounter in Kentucky. For the event, 444 Deaf people registered to attend. 2022 was an exciting and eventful year for me at the SWM Home Office: I am so thankful for the team of regular volunteers who are available and willing to help in any way needed. Often I delegate book orders, prayer letter mailings, and cleaning to them so that I can answer phones, edit/update master files for printing, and update the website. Once last year, I joked with one of our volunteers (as we were deflating beach balls after a Hawaiian-themed Deaf fellowship) that it is difficult to explain what I do at the office because of the variety. The Home Office can be a very lively place at times. Recently, we have been preparing for a new season of Fantastic Saturday events. These area-wide Deaf outreaches in various states begin in the fall and continue in the spring. Jehovah M’Kaddesh – “The God Who sanctifies.” We are saved through faith in Christ’s finished work – His death on the cross and His resurrection. How wonderful to know that after salvation, He doesn’t leave us alone to figure out how to grow spiritually! It is through our personal relationship with God that we are changed and made like Christ. I am so thankful that God has called me to serve in Deaf ministry with Silent Word Ministries! Every week, God gives me plenty of opportunities to minister.I have learned that when I focus on Christ and love Him more (abiding in the vine), He gives me daily strength to obey and serve (walking in the Spirit). Greetings Friends & Fellow-Laborers, How time flies! In 2005, God crossed the path of a young woman, unsure of her future, with a seasoned missionary to the Deaf. Shortly after a mission trip to the Philippines, God began to show her how He had been leading all along through her interest in sign language as a teen.
